About Me

Kia ora! I'm Shiva Prasad, a 30-year-old mobile technologist based in Auckland, New Zealand.

I’ve always been a builder at heart. I started out hacking together prototypes and diving deep into NativeScript plugins, driven by the pure joy of making things work. Over the last decade, that journey has taken me from writing code to leading the teams that write it. Today, I focus on the bigger picture: architecting scalable platforms, mentoring engineers, and bridging the gap between ambitious product ideas and rock-solid technical execution.

Quick Facts

  • Current Role: Engineering Manager at Simpro Group
  • Home Base: Auckland, New Zealand (originally from Karnataka, India)
  • Tech Roots: NativeScript, Angular, Node.js, and Mobile Architecture
  • Experience: 10+ years of shipping apps and solving problems
  • Favorite Role: Dad to a December 2024 baby who is currently 11 months old

What I Do

  • Empowering Teams: I don’t just manage; I mentor. I help engineers grow from task-completers to product-owners, fostering a culture where technical excellence meets delivery speed.
  • Building Platforms: My focus has shifted from individual apps to the shared services and systems that power them, ensuring our tech stack is as scalable as it is maintainable.
  • Solving the Hard Stuff: Whether it’s a complex UX challenge, a performance bottleneck, or a tricky architectural trade-off, I love diving into the problems that stump others.

Life Beyond Shipping Apps

Family life keeps me grounded: I’m married to an incredible Vietnamese partner, and together we’re raising our son (11 months), born in December 2024. When I manage to steal solo time, you’ll find me chasing miles on Auckland’s coastal runways, tinkering with AI workflows, or geeking out over the latest VR headset. Evenings are for anime marathons—My Hero Academia is the current binge, joining past favorites like Death Note, Naruto, Frieren, Re:Zero, and Shangri-La Frontier. Weekends usually involve e-bike rides, hikoi around Aotearoa’s trails, or deep dives into gadgets that make family life a little more fun.

If we ever meet in person, there’s a decent chance I’ll show up straight from a run, ask what AI tools you’re experimenting with, compare notes on VR headsets, and recommend at least one anime arc that made me think differently about storytelling.

Testimonials

“ It was great working with Shiva. He did some Nativescript consultation for me and he solved every single one of my doubts/problems. He really knows what he’s talking about and he expresses it with the right words. I will happily work with him again! ”
